I've been there. Despite 25 years as a successful CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional, my own divorce gave me that same deer-in-the-headlights sensation as it does everyone going through the process. Divorce is shrouded in mystery, and it's hard to know what's right, wrong or relevant. But my family's future was on the line, so I harnessed my resources.

My lawyer and my mediator were so impressed by my Financial Planning approach to the process, that they virtually insisted I enter the Divorce Planning profession to bring these skills to their clients. I took the rigorous training for certification as a Certified Divorce Planner, passing the exam at the top of my class.

Questions to consider as you enter the process: What's the difference between what you're entitled to and what you're likely to get in court? How can you negotiate if you don't know what's on the table? How can you agree to a deal when you don't understand its long-term implications for yourself and your family?
