Version 5.10 released Aug 10, 2003

Release Notes for Version 5.10

This version focused on changes to clarify and enhance the defined benefit pensions data entry and wages data entry.

Significantly, all versions that include the Advisor module can now enter defined benefit pension benefit and values obtained from outside sources. (But only the Deluxe or Pension Calculator editions can estimate pension benefits or calculate defined benefit pension values.)

The changes in detail:

All editions that include the Advisor module:

Revised the entry of Wages to clarify how to enter wages that will have jumps or dips.

Added an option to have the charts print as line charts, rather than bar charts. To make this option active, click on the Reports link along the left of the screen, then click the top link on that page (which says "Click here to set print and report options"), and then change the Graphs Style to "line."

For IRA distributions, self and spouse may now enter different amounts.

The top page for Investments now shows both "% Interest and Dividends" and "% appreciation," to help clarify that there are two components of investment return.

Pension distributions now default to "periodic" as opposed to "lump sum." Users may change this default at any time.

The social security question "increase with inflation?" now defaults to "no." Users may change this default at any time.

Divorce Calculators:

The divorce calculator for Property Division was enhanced. Several additional lines were entered for assets and debts, and subtotals were added for assets and debts.

Also, divorce calculators no longer advance to the next screen when data is entered in the last field. To advance, click the "Continue" button.

Financial Advisor and Basic Bundle:

Added the ability to enter pension benefits and valuation. Note that this is limited, and if data from a Deluxe Edition should be entered into an edition without Pension Evaluation, the value will not transfer.

Professional Basic and Professional Deluxe Editions:

Enhanced "What If" for Wages to enable "What if" with wages that will have jumps or dips.

Updated all the Client Data sheets to conform them to the program's data entry screens.

Professional Deluxe:

Added Audit and Valuation reports as on-screen links in the pension benefit.

Added Audit and Valuation reports to reports menu.

Printing, the words "Family Law Software" and "Divorce" no longer appear at the bottom of each printed page.

Personal and Professional Pension Calculator, Personal and Professional Deluxe Editions:

Added RP-2000 mortality table (used in California).

Professional Pension and Professional Deluxe Editions:

Simplified the presentation of pension data entry, to make it clearer and faster.

Bugs fixed.

In the Personal Basic Bundle and Deluxe Editions: Defined Benefit pensions were not always displaying QDRO information or entering the correct pension distribution information. That is now fixed.

In all editions that include the Advisor module, the Wage Report sometimes did not reflect the latest changes to wages. That is now fixed.

In all editions that include pension valuation (Pension Calculator, Deluxe Editions), lump sum distributions of Defined Benefit Pensions had used the value as of the evaluation date instead of the value as of retirement date. That is now fixed.
