Release Notes for Version 6.18, released Nov 24, 2004

This release adds the ability to create footnotes, improves the handling of debts, and introduces child support guidelines for Maryland, Missouri, and Nevada.

Changes to all editions.

1. Child Support. We are introducing child support guidelines for three more states: Maryland, Missouri, and Nevada.

2. Dividing Debts. It is now possible to divide responsibility for a single debt between spouses. It works similarly to the way assets work in this respect.

3. Balloon or Bullet payments on debts. You may now specify an early payoff date (Balloon or Bullet payment) for debts. The software will automatically calculate the balance as of that date and make the payment.

4. Reorganization of Reports screen. The Reports screen has been reorganized and simplified. The reports people use most often are grouped at the top and labeled as "Key Reports." Other reports have been organized as Backup reports. Several reports that were mostly redundant have been removed.

5. IRA Contributions. It had been possible for IRA contributions to continue past the retirement age specified. That no longer happens.

6. Florida Child Support. We made minor changes to the calculation of the child's portion of health care in Florida, to make it easier to use.

Enhancements to Professional Edition Only

1. Footnotes. You may now create footnotes by clicking on [Fn] anywhere the [Fn] symbol appears. Footnotes will print on selected Key Reports. Most items of income and expense appear on the After-Tax Cash and After-Tax Cash Spreadsheet Style reports. Asset and liability items will appear on the Property Division, Marital and Separate Property, and Net Worth Spreadsheet Style Reports.

If you wish to have a report not show a particular footnote, bring up the footnote, check the box labeled "This is a reminder (do not print as footnote) and then print that report. Currently, there is no other way to specify the reports on which a footnote appears.

You may view all your footnotes in one place. Click the Planner tab then click Reports on the left. Then click "View Footnotes" at the top of the page.

You may click [Fn] next to each note to edit the note.

To delete a footnote, simply delete the footnote's text and click "Save."
