Cases: Hug (1984) 201 Cal Rptr 676 (stock option may be viewed as compensation for past, present, or future services, based on situation; options were granted before separation but exercisable after; in this case, court said that community property portion of stock options was # days married-and-employed / # days employed up to first exercise date of the option; remaining portion of options is separate property; but other cases may have other results). Rives (1982) 181 Cal Rptr 572 (court was allowed to award entire bee-keeping business to one spouse, as long as it awarded equivalent property to the other spouse).
