Florida Law - Does a Gift To A Spouse Become Separate Property?

A gift to a spouse remains marital property.

Example: Antony gives Cleopatra an expensive diamond necklace. In the divorce proceedings, the necklace is marital property, and Cleo's share of the other assets may be reduced by about half the value of the necklace.

Section 61.075(5)

Cases:

Amato (1992) 596 So2d 1243 (gift between spouses remains marital property).
