Connected To Your Ex-Spouse Barry never wanted the divorce. He finds himself talking with Carol all the time about the children, coordinating schedules, and so forth. He initially hoped he could build this connection up into a re-establishment of the relationship. But it did not happen. Barry has accepted this reality. Another thing Barry found himself doing was calling Carol for advice on all kinds of things. This was, in part, habit. And, in part, it was also to try to re-establish the relationship. But eventually Barry recognized that he needed to stop leaning on Carol. He realized this was causing him to live in the past, and that he needed to move on. So Barry has consciously built a support network of old and new friends and family, to replace the support he had gotten from Carol.
