Empty your joint checking account Some divorce strategists recommend that men close out the joint checking account, moving all the funds to an account in their name alone. We would suggest you do this only if you are afraid your wife will take the money in the account and waste it all at once. But as an offensive policy with the goal of harassing your wife, we do not recommend it. Other legal strategists recommend withdrawing half of your joint checking account funds and putting it in this account. Again, you have to think through all the implications of such an act before doing it. This is not a strategy we recommend. .
