Take an Inventory of the Safe Deposit Box A common husband's trick is to empty the safe deposit box and simply hide the contents. If you didn't know what was in it, you would never prove he had done it. The thing to do is to visit the box, write down everything that's in it, and then get a bank officer to review and sign your list. If you can photocopy the paper items, that's even better. You want all identifying information: number of shares for stocks, redemption dates and face value for bonds.
