Many men who are self-employed will deliberately defer income until after the divorce.

Ways they can do this include:

• Paying bills early.
• Allowing receivables to accumulate uncollected.
• Deferring issuing bills for work done.
• Stopping soliciting new business.
• Increase spending on personal things such as cars, boats, repairs, etc. out of business funds.

But a man might find that this hurts the businesses, cutting off his nose to spite his face.
