Financial Well-Being of the Parents After the Divorce
From the
Wallerstein study
participants come the following notes:
-
Two thirds of the men have a no-better or worse quality of life, ten
years out.
-
Almost half of the women have a no-better or worse quality of
life at ten years.
-
Forty percent of the men who divorced in their 20's are struggling financially ten years later.
-
Most of the men who divorced in their 20's are "seriously
derailed" financially and emotionally ten years later. Wallerstein
hypothesizes that this may be because they married in their teens,
had children, missed college, and now have support payments.
