Here are some questions you might want to ask at your first meeting. Don't be shy. Your lawyer hears these questions all the time, and he or she should be comfortable answering them.

• What is the fee structure?
• What other charges do I have to pay?
• Are other lawyers working on my case?
• What is your practice like?
• How much courtroom experience have you had?
• Will you seek part of your fee from my spouse?
• How long will this take?
• How involved do you want me to be?
