Should I Change The Locks?

Unless you have a high level of trust with your spouse, you might want to consider changing the locks on your home.

That way, your spouse won't be able to enter to take something out of the home, search through your private matters, or even destroy something in the home.

It is perfectly legal to change the locks on a spouse who is separated.

If you are the spouse who left, and the locks are changed, the consensus advice is simply to accept that you no longer have access to the home -- even though you are still a partial owner.
