Indiana Law - Summary Dissolution e If the parties reach agreement on all issues and do not want a hearing, and they submit a signed divorce agreement (or a stateement that there are no issues to resolve), then the court may grant a divorce without a hearing. Indiana encourages the parties to reach an agreement themselves, because it gives them more flexibility to tailor the agreement to their exact situation, and to specify things that perhaps could not be specified by a court (e.g., permanent maintenance). The 60-day waiting period after filing still applies. Section 31-1-11.5-8(d). Cases: Bowman (1991) 567 NE2d 828 (state encourages agreements between the parties).
