Motion for Alimony Pendente Lite
A motion for alimony pendente lite is a request to a judge that a judge order one spouse
to pay alimony to the other during the period before the final settlement or judgment.
"Pendente lite" is Latin for "pending the litigation," that is, "during the period of
the negotiations."
The amount of alimony in this order, while theoretically temporary, often becomes the
amount of alimony in the final order.
