Motion for a Protective Order

A motion for a protective order is typically a request to the judge to order that one spouse not go near the other spouse.

You would file for a motion like this if you felt that you were in danger, or your children were in danger.

The order can say that, for example, the harassing spouse should not go to the house, or should not go within 100 feet of the protected spouse, or should not go on the street where the home is located, or should not go in the neighborhood of the home.

It depends on the extent and nature of the harassment.

If the judge issues this order, and the spouse violates it, the violating spouse could be put in jail.
