Subsequent Relationships of the Children
Here are some statistics from the
Wallerstein study
, in which the news
was not good.
-
At the ten year point, close to half the boys, who are ages
19-21 are unhappy, lonely, and have had few, if any, lasting
relationships with young women.
-
20% of the girls are in abusive relationships 10 and 15 years
after the divorce.
-
Where there was abuse in the home before the divorce, half the
children (boys and girls) were in abusive relationships ten years
out.
-
Of the children who were in abusive relationships ten years out,
all the boys were perpetrators of the abuse, and 3/4 of the girls were
also perpetrators. One quarter of the girls hit their boyfriends.
