Texas Law - Quasi-Community Property Texas adopts the legal notion of "quasi-community property." Strictly speaking, community property refers only to property acquired while the parties are living in Texas. By adopting the theory of quasi-community property, Texas broadens the principle. So if, for example, the parties bought land while they lived in Washington State, that land will be treated like community property and divided 50/50. Section 3.36(b).
