What Men and Women Fear
Michael, as an insecure man, is afraid of a woman being competent in his domain.
He is afraid that, if Denise can earn more money than he can (for example), then Denise will reject
him and leave him alone.
Michael may be dead wrong; Denise just wants Michael to cherish her for the person she is. Denise really
does not feel superior to Michael just because she earns a higher salary.
Denise, as an insecure woman, is afraid of receiving affection. She may want the attention, but she's
afraid she doesn't deserve it.
