Indiana Law - How is Child Support Enforced?

The court will usually require that support payments be made to the court system. This lets the courts, at a minimum, track and verify underpayments of support.

If the payer does fail to pay, the court may order that payment be deducted directly from the payer's wages.

Finally, the court may suspend the payer's driver's license or professional license.

As further incentive to pay promptly, the court may also order interest charges of up to 1.5% per month to be paid on any delinquent payments.

Section 31-1-11.5-12(g), 31-1-11.5-13(a),(j).
