Indiana Law - What is the "Separation Date"?
The separation date is the date the divorce petition is filed.
Section 31-1-11.5-11.
Cases:
Fuehrer (1995) 651 NE2d 1171 (marital pot closes on date dissolution petition is filed; debts incurred
after that are separate debts).
