Indiana Law - As of What Date are Assets Valued?
Assets are generally valued as of the date the marriage is dissolved (that is, the trial date).
However, the judge may use any date between the date the petition is filed and the hearing date.
Cases:
Sloss (1988) 526 NE2d 1036 (over course of five year marriage, husband spent $600,000, all of wife's
inheritance, the last $100,000 between filing for divorce and final hearing; court used date of
filing and ordered husband to repay $100,000 to wife).
