Massachusetts Law - Until What Age Does Child Support Typically Run?

The typical age at which child support stops is age 18.

But support can run until the child turns 21 if both of the following are true:

  • The child lives with the custodial parent; and
  • The child depends on the parents for support.

And support can run all the way until the child turns age 23 if the following are true:

  • The child is enrolled in an educational program (but not a post-graduate program); and
  • The child is dependent on the parents for support; and
  • The child lives with the parent (when he or she is not at school).

Section 28.
