Michigan Law - Does a Gift To A Spouse Become Separate Property?
Although we have not found any cases about this in Michigan, we think
that the court has authority to decide to leave gifts with the recipient,
or to award them back to the giver.
This is simply in keeping with the courts' broad authority to make
any division of assets they think is fair in the circumstances.
