New York Law - How Long Must You Live In the State?
The residence requirement depends on the residences of the parties.

If both reside in New York, and the reason for the divorce occurred in New York, then
there is no minimum residence requirement.

If the parties married in New York, or lived in New York as husband and wife, or the
reason for the divorce occurred in
New York, then there is a one-year residence requirement for at least one party.

Otherwise, there is a two year residence requirement for at least one party.
