Ohio Law - Professional Degrees Professional degrees are not marital property in Ohio. However, a spouse's effort in putting another spouse through school to get a professional degree is one factor a court will use in deciding on a spousal support award. Section 3105.18. Cases: Stevens (1986) 492 NE2d 131 (The court found that a professional degree can not be categorized as property.)
