Texas Law - What is "Separate Property?"

Separate property is:

• Property owned or claimed by a spouse before marriage; and
• Property acquired by a spouse during the marriage by gift or inheritance; and
• Recovery for personal injuries sustained by a spouse during marriage, except for any recovery for loss of earning capacity during the marriage.
