- Child support. When the payer pays more than their share of adjustments, and the amount by which the payer’s payments exceeds their share of adjustments is more than the entire obligation, there is a question how to handle that. Does support become zero, or should the recipient actually pay the payor “support” each month to reimburse the costs? The statute is ambiguous, and the judicial department has been going back and forth. They have now settled on the conclusion that the recipient should pay the payer “support” each month. On the guideline worksheet, the way this plays out is that a negative amount on line 12 for the payer becomes the recipient’s obligation.
